Last Sunday we headed up to Racine, WI to meet Matt’s parents, his brother and sister-in-law for a picnic near Lake Michigan. I had never been to the Racine lake front before and I was really impressed by how nice and clean that it was.
We found a nice shaded picnic table and set up the lunch. It was a windy day so trying to keep everything on the table turned out to be a bit of a chore. While Mark grilled hot dogs and brats, Carson tried to find hidden treasure with his metal detector and Riley just continually ran up and rolled down the big hill right behind us.
When everyone was stuffed on grilled meat, potato salad and beans we walked across the street to the beach. Since it was a breezy day there were some small waves rolling in on the lake and the kids splashed around in the surf. I dipped my toes in and the water was COLD but that didn’t slow Carson and Riley down.
Completely soaked with no change of clothes, the kids finally decided they had enough in the water and we made our way back to the picnic area to toast some S’mores.
We then went to Racine zoo. A small zoo, a very small zoo but surprisingly nice zoo. More cages than I like to see at a zoo but very well done for a small facility.
I will post more beach pictures and zoo pictures at some point, hopefully today. Housecleaning calls and I’m getting my hair cut and colored tonight. Bye bye random gray pieces that have started to appear.
