Our DirecTV DVR decided that since I hadn’t already watched all of the episodes of this seasons Hell’s Kitchen or the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy yet that I was S.O.L. For some reason the entire history, to do list and play list were deleted. Gone! You feel betrayed when your DVR does you wrong. Up until now we’ve had a loving and trusting relationship, I’m not sure that we will ever get back to that place again.
I called DirecTV tech support to find out if we needed a new box. The tech assured me that this problem “was just like chicken pox” that once you get it you can never get it again. Suuuuuure, if you say so dude. Electronics with immunities is a new one to me.
Riley is a girly-girl. I am not. I never have been and I am trying hard to learn how to be one. It’s not easy, at all. Sometimes I feel like there is the whole world of knowledge that most women have that I know absolutely nothing about. I don’t know how to expertly apply makeup, I can’t braid hair, I can barely get her hair to stay in a ponytail. I’m learning, trying and learning…
While driving through the Illinois countryside we came across the little town of Norway, IL. Based on the signs we saw the town revels in its Norse heritage. What we weren’t expecting on the way out of town was a crashed plane. Not a recent plane crash but a permanent display/monument/art piece. My camera was in the car so of course I made Matt turn around so that we could investigate.
The plane is an Agricultural Crash Monument and is put there by a local Stihl Dealer. I love discovering things on a road trip. If only gas prices weren’t out of control.
Down another 3.3 lbs. I’m still having fun with it. I’ve unlocked the free step and I can actually watch something else while keeping rhythm with the sound coming through the Wiimote.
I haven’t done my workout today but plan to do it once the kids are in bed tonight. Carson came home sick from school this morning and it threw my entire routine off.
Only one more week of school. How long until summer is over??
Saturday, we took the kids hiking in Starved Rock State Park. Hiking in Starved Rock turns out to involve a ridiculous amount of stairs. They are stairs on every path in that park. I think trail erosion must be a big problem there and the stairs are the solution. The park is beautiful with lots of canyons to explore and great views of the river and surrounding area. We hiked for 2 1/2 to 3 hours and were feeling the effect of all of those stairs when we were done.

Matt and I were married in front of this fireplace at Starved Rock Lodge 13 years ago. We had to peek around curtains to get the picture as they had the area set up for a wedding reception.
I just back from taking Reese to the vet for a check up and a few shots. Once we got him on the table and he was sure no one was going to dare to try and trim his nails he did great. This gives me an excuse to post photos of him. Without further ado I present Reese, the wonder pooch.
We know he is a chocolate lab mixed with something. What that something is we are not sure. Have a guess? Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
Official weight loss over two days so far is 1.1 lbs. Still have a long, long way to go.
Did a 45 minute workout today. I really hope no one is looking in my windows while I am doing the Super Hula Hoop game because I must look like a crazy person gyrating wildly in my living room. I am seeing a lot of improvement already in my flexibility and balance. My balance is so bad that anything is an improvement.
I unlocked a new aerobics game today called Rhythm Boxing. It is fun and a great workout. It’s sort of a cross between Dance Dance Revolution and Wii Boxing. I can tell that is going to be one of my favorite activities.
I lost 1.5 lbs since yesterday. I weighed after lunch yesterday and on an empty stomach today so that could be making the difference. I will weigh in the morning tomorrow.
Worked out this morning for 30 minutes. 12 minutes of yoga with the rest divided among strength training and aerobics. I hope to do another 30 minutes later on today. I did see that my balance improved somewhat since yesterday, I was much more stable and focused on the yoga positions this time around.
